County Clerk Announces Re-Election Bid

Vancouver, Washington - Sherry Parker, Clark County Clerk, will make her formal announcement for re-election at the Clark County Democratic Convention on Saturday, April 10th.

Parker has almost 19 years experience in the Superior Court system in Clark County, serving as County Clerk since January 2007. She holds a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of South Florida and an associate’s degree in data processing from Clark Community College. She recently completed the Certified Public Officials program offered by the State of Washington.

The County Clerk is the administrative and financial officer of the Superior Court. The role of the Clerk is to provide the public with equal access to a fair, accurate and independently established record of the Superior Court’s opinions, decisions and judgments. The Clerk’s office has an annual budget of approximately three million dollars and a staff of 45 employees working in four separate locations.

Parker states, “The last biennium has been difficult for all county employees, but the staff of the Clerk’s Office has met every challenge with innovative ideas and teamwork. I am proud of our accomplishments and would consider it an honor to serve as County Clerk for another four years.” Parker promises to continue providing the citizens of Clark County with fiscal responsibility, reliable record keeping and the latest technological innovations.

Parker believes, “to be a part of the community, you must serve the community.” She was appointed by Governor Gary Locke to the Board of Trustees of Clark Community College in 2004 and was recently appointed by Governor Gregoire for another five year term. She serves on the Public Trust and Confidence Committee of the Board for Judicial Administration; serves as the Secretary of the Clark County Volunteer Lawyers Program; is a member of the Clark County Law and Justice Council; an Executive Board member and past President of Salmon Creek Lions Club where she has been a member for over ten years; and a member of the Clark County Lions Hearing Committee which provides hearing aids for Clark County residents who are not financially able to purchase them.

Sherry and her husband Philip A. Parker, a retired electrician and State Transportation Commissioner, have been married over 40 years. They raised their two sons Jeffrey and David in the Minnehaha area of Vancouver where they lived from 1978 until 2009 when they moved to Battle Ground. They have three grandchildren.
