About Sherry Parker My husband Philip and I have been married for 40 years. We raised our two sons, Jeffrey and David, in the Minnehaha area where we lived from 1978 to 2009, when we moved to Battle Ground. Philip is a state Transportation Commissioner and retired member of IBEW Local 48. Our son Jeffrey and his wife live in the Seattle area with their daughter. Jeff is a property manager for a large multi-state company. Our son David and his wife live in Ridgefield with their two children. David is also an electrician and member of IBEW Local 48. My educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of South Florida, an Associate’s degree from Clark College in computer programming and master’s level classes in library/media education at Portland State University. I have taught at every level of education, from pre-school through college. I began my career in the Superior Court system as a full time temporary in the Clerk’s Office in 1987, filing documents and pulling files for court. After working in the advertising arena for several years, I took a position with the Juvenile Court in 1991. I worked there for eight years as a legal secretary/accountant and for the next seven years in the Clerk’s Office as a Clerk’s Judicial Proceedings Specialist (a courtroom clerk). I was elected County Clerk in November 2006 and took office in January 2007. After my election, I was asked to join the board of the Clark County Volunteer Lawyers Program and was just elected Secretary; I serve as the Clerk’s representative on the Public Trust and Confidence Committee of the Board for Judicial Administration and serve on the Clark County Law and Justice Council. I have always believed that to be a part of the community, you should serve the community and I strive to do that. I have proudly served on the Board of Trustees of Clark Community College since 2004; for the last two years, I have served as the Chair of the Audit Committee for the Trustees Association of Community and Technical Colleges; I am an Executive Board member and past President of Salmon Creek Lions Club, where I have been a member for over ten years; and I am a member of the Clark County Lions Hearing Committee which provides hearing aids for Clark County residents who are not financially able to purchase them. Over the last 30 years, I have served the Clark County Democratic Party in many ways. I was the PCO in my precinct for more years than I can remember. I have been the newsletter editor, the organizer for the Good Folks Auction, an officer of the Clark County Democratic Women’s Club, the Credentials Chair for countless Conventions and the Auction Chair for the Jefferson/Jackson Dinner. I served as the Treasurer for the 49th Legislative District and served as the Treasurer of the Clark County Democratic Central Committee from 1999 to 2006.
